  • Cytokine and LL-37 gene expression levels in Bartonella spp. seropositive and seronegative patients of a rheumatology clinic

    2022, Advances in Medical Sciences
    Citation Excerpt :

Only a few reports have described any relationship between Bartonella infection and arthropathy or chronic myalgia [12,13], or with Borreliella burgdorferi infection [14]. Rare cases of CSD have been described in patients undergoing biological treatments, and such complications may be under-diagnosed [15–17]. Therefore, to better understand the immune response to the presence of Bartonella spp. or anti-Bartonella immunoglobulins, the present study compares the levels of selected cytokine mRNAs in the blood of rheumatology clinic patients with those of healthy controls.
